Ultra Low Power Step-Down Micro DC/DC Converter with VSET
The XCL233 is a synchronous step-down Micro DC/DC converter with integrated coil in an ultra-small 2.5 x 2.0 x 1.04mm CL-2025-03 package. The XCL233 has an output voltage select function (VSET) that enables two separate voltages to be pre-selected.
Modern MCUs can operate over a wide voltage range but when in sleep mode, the MCU only requires a relatively low voltage to operate. For example, in high speed operation, a voltage of 1.8V is necessary for the MCU, but a lower voltage of 1.1V would be enough when the MCU is in a sleep or suspend mode. Being able to provide a lower VDD voltage to the MCU during sleep / suspend mode helps to reduce total current consumption which in turn means longer battery life. The XCL233’s VSET function supports this.
A stable and efficient power supply circuit can be configured by simply adding only two ceramic capacitors externally thereby contributing to PCB space saving and the shortening of development time.
The XCL233 can operate from 1.8V~6.0V and deliver loads up to 150mA. It’s designed for very high efficiencies even at low output loads and has an ultra low quiescent current of only 200nA.
Output voltage is selectable within a range of 0.5V~3.6V.
