The XC9116 series is a fixed frequency, constant current step-up DC/DC, specifically designed for driving LED’s. Capable of output voltages up to 17.5V, the XC9116 can drive up to four white LED’s in series from an input as low as 3.2V. Alternatively two parallel banks of three LED’s can be driven from a 2.5V supply.

The brightness of the LED’s can be controlled by changing the duty cycle of an external PWM signal, applied to the CE pin. With a 1MHz switching frequency, the XC9116 offers high efficiences using ultra small external components and the very low feedback (FB) reference voltage ensures that any RLED losses are minimal.

The XC9116B version also has an additional protection circuit built-in, which prevents any excess or run away output voltage conditions, which may be caused if the LED’s are damaged or disconnected.
