Single Sell Li-Ion / Li Polymer Charge IC

The ultra-low profile XC6808 is a Constant-Voltage and Constant-Current linear charger for small single-cell Li-ion and Li-polymer batteries used in Smartcards and other space restricted applications. 

The IC is housed in the ultra-small, low profile USP-6B07 package that measures only 1.8 x 2.0 x 0.33mm and a tiny charge circuit can be configured using a minimum of external components.

Users a can select one of three different Charge Voltage thresholds (4.20V, 4.35V or 4.40V) and the Charge Current is adjusted from 5mA to 40mA with an external resistor. 

When the input supply is removed, XC6808 automatically enters a low battery sink state, reducing the battery sink current to 0.1μA (typ.) helping to ensure a long life for smaller batteries.

The basic charging cycle consists of trickle charge mode followed by main charge mode. An LED can be connected to the charge status output pin to allow confirmation of charging by LED illumination.

This IC also support temperature control based on JEITA, making it possible to safely charge Li-ion batteries by controlling the CV charge voltage and CC charge current according to the temperature.  The XC6808 also supports 0.2C charging, allowing setting of charge timer to 5 hours or 10 hours.
