Torex and RoHS Compliance
RoHS Compliance
In addition to providing lead-free (Pb-free) options for all products, Torex is also 100% compliant with RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) standards. All of the company's Pb-free product meet the RoHS proposed thresholds for cadmium, mercury, lead, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs) and polybrominated diphpenyl ethers (PBDEs).

In order to meet the RoHS standard, each package component (mold compound, lead frame, etc.) must be within the RoHS thresholds shown below:
RoHS Threshold (ppm) RoHS Threshold (% of wt.)
- Lead 1000ppm 0.1%
- Mercury 1000ppm 0.1%
- Cadmium 100ppm 0.01%
- Hexavalent Chromium 1000ppm 0.1%
- Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB) 1000ppm 0.1%
- Polybrominated Biphenylethers (PBDE) 1000ppm 0.1%
* Lead is allowed up to 4% as an alloying agent in copper-based alloys such as leadframes.
Ensuring Lead-Free Packaging when Ordering
Torex products can be ordered with a “N” suffix to specify the lead-free package option. For example, if you want to order the XC6204B182MR in a lead-free version, the appropriate part number would be XC6204B182MRN. All Torex parts ordered with the “N” suffix will be so labelled on the reel (if ordered in tape and reel). The “N” suffix will be included in the part number designator on all packing lists and commercial invoices supplied by Torex Europe to its direct Customers or its Distributors. Please note however that certain newer families which were released after the switchover to lead-free were automatically lead-free and did not need the “N” suffix. Please consult with your nearest sales contact for details if unsure.
Peak Reflow & Moisture Sensitivity Level
The peak reflow soldering temperature of the lead-free part is 10°C higher than standard reflow peak temperature. In order to guarantee reliable assembly, Torex has followed the strict guidelines of the IPC/JEDEC specification J-STD-020C. The moisture sensitivity level of all Torex ICs is MSL1.
